September 2003
Dear Partner,
Grace and peace to you. The newsletter for August was prepared for release, however
I could not get peace to do so. During this time, we were having some challenges.
Laura (my wife)had flu symptoms while we were in Pittsburgh. The temperatures
were cool. We came back to Tulsa to 106 degree temperatures. Then, we went to West
Virginia where the temperatures were even cooler than in Pittsburgh. Laura coughed
every night while we were there. She became weak in her body when we got to Chicago.
We made it back to Tulsa where she was eventually diagnosed with pneumonia. Her
lungs were filled with fluid. The doctor referred her to the emergency room where
she was admitted to the hospital. Eleven days later, she was released from the
hospital and she is continuing to recover at home.
All of my meetings were cancelled in August so I could concentrate my full attention
on my family. One good thing has come from this situation. Laura and I have gained
a better understanding and knowledge of each other.
Even though our insurance has covered a great deal of the medical expenses there
is $13,000 that the insurance will not pay. Also, there is $2,000 in monthly health
care expenses for the next 4 months that the insurance will not pay. We had a total
of $25,300 in medical and living expenses for the month of August. One church and
two people have made donations totaling $3,700 to assist us specifically at this time.
In the midst of this, the Lord has given me two scriptures:
Isaiah 58:11
"And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and
make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of
water, whose waters fail not."
I Corinthians 2:1-5
"1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of
speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2For I determined
not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3And
I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4And my
speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration
of the Spirit and of power: 5That your faith should not stand in
the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
My heart has always been to bring peace where there is chaos and confusion; healing
where there is sickness and disease; deliverance where there is bondage; love where
there is hate; and light where there is darkness. Our hearts are still yielded to
the grace of God.
This month, I have begun to travel again. I want to assure you that these events
have not changed my commitment to continue to pray for you. Laura and I appreciate
all of the partners the Lord has brought along side of us. It is a great encouragement
to hear from you. We would ask that you pray about what the Lord would have you do
in this matter.
I remain . . .
In His Service,
George Moss
