Dear Partner,
Proverbs 9:10
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy
is understanding."
The word "fear" in the scripture above is the Hebrew word "yare". There are
two definitions for this word.
1. The emotional and intellectual anticipation of harm. What one feels may go wrong for him.
2. A very positive feeling of awe or reverence for God. It may be expressed in piety or formal worship.
Fear, in this verse, is reverence and honor for God. It eventually can become
a state of being. Honor and respect for God is developed through practical exposure.
As we do our devotions (reading the word, praying and worshipping), we get to know
him better. Our respect and trust will increase as we fellowship with Him also.
So we honor and reverence God through (1) the word, (2) prayer and (3) worship;
also (4) through fellowship. It is possible to do one and not the other. However,
doing each, in turn, is better.
It is a wonderful thing to know our God. As the days become even more evil, He
will show Himself to be a very present help in time of trouble.
Proverbs 2:1-9 tells how we get to fear (reverence) the Lord.
1My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments
with thee; 2So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine
heart to understanding; 3Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest
up thy voice for understanding; 4If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest
for her as for hid treasures; 5Then shalt thou understand the fear of
the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6For the LORD giveth wisdom:
out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 7He layeth up sound
wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 8He
keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. 9Then
shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
When you truly respect and honor someone, it is easy to receive (their words,
anointing, prayer, healing, etc.) from them. God is our all in all and he wants
the best for us. II Samuel 22:31 says "As for God, his way is perfect; the word
of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him." Tried means
to melt by fire in order to separate from impurities (i.e. gold and silver), to test,
to prove, to purge away; to see who was qualified for battle. In Judges 7, Gideon
had assembled 32,000 men. God said it was too many. He said to Gideon, proclaim
"3Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead.
And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten
thousand. 4And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many." (Judges 7:3-4)
The final test came when the people were taken down to the water. Finally, there
were 300 separated for battle.
When you change what you believe, you can change what you do. Some people are
unaware of the creative power in the word of God. The word will give us wisdom.
It provides knowledge and understanding. God is still speaking today.
Psalms 12:6
"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,
purified seven times."
Proverbs 30:5
"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him."
There has to be a listening time. Faith must be exercised to hear God speak.
While we are doing our devotions is a good time to start listening. We can then
take listening from the place of our devotions and move it to wherever or whatever
we are doing. Then it becomes a lifestyle of fellowship.
Sergeant Major (ret.) Arthur Brown worked with me in Zwiebrucken, Germany 27 years
ago. He had a lot of respect for me as a Christian person. When he heard that I was
in ministry, he purposed to come when I came close to him. His home is now in Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida. I called and told him I was going to be in Jacksonville, Florida.
It was an approximately 5 hour drive between the two cities. There were two morning
services in the church where I was speaking. He was there in the early service. To
my surprise, he was in a wheelchair. He was wearing an oxygen mask, had diabetes and
high blood pressure. His blood pressure was very high. The blood sugar level was
200 plus when he was there. After prayer, he left. It did not appear that anything
had happened, but we are not moved by what we see. When I returned home, he called
and wrote. He said he was healed. Immediately, he felt better. His blood sugar
level was down in the eighties; his blood pressure had dropped to normal. He had
begun to walk around his driveway without oxygen. There was no further need for
blood pressure or diabetes medicine. He stated in his heart and to his wife that
he would be healed when he got to the meeting. He honored the anointing and ministry
as he had previously respected me as a major in the United States Army. Praise the
name of Jesus! His heart was fixed. Our eyes must stay on the author of creation,
the Spirit and the Word. Thank God for his mercy endures forever.
In His Service,
George Moss
